It's still a fantastic game, but that dev choice combined with the lack of mod support to harmlessly circumvent it turned me off, which honestly the game doesn't deserve. This is just the beginning of whats seems. Hokko Life even features a forrest and a mine, both places are filled with new resources every single day. The game features and endless amount of activities chopping down trees, gardening, fishing, decorating and more. It's doable but I lose hours in a game where time matters which just. Hokko Life is on track to capture the hearts of Animal Crossing fans and beyond. I hate that lose so much in-game time between the way it punishes my bad memory and the face that there is no easy way to design quickly with a controller. I also got sick of pausing and pulling up phone pics of the tasks to keep track of stuff. It makes designing in early game extremely stressful and turned me off the game. I was hoping for a simple "pause time while in menus" feature which is basically ubiquitous on "faster than real time" games in the genre, since I suspect it's a very intentional choice. The task list is hard to parse and designing is kind of a long drawn-out chore, which is fine until I've missed deadlines and screwed up because the menus take time to load, navigate, and read. Hokko Life is easier to obtain and costs less money, while Animal Crossing is exclusive to Nintendo consoles and is more expensive. Animal Crossing offers emotional connection and is more relaxing.

It's a bummer for me mostly because designing and looking at the task list, arranging inventory, etc. Hokko Life has more of a quest-like adventure aspect to it due to villager requests and mining.
